September 2006: Four people (2 adults, 2 children) in Lawrenceville, GA were injured from a 12-16 foot fall while looking at a house for sale when suddenly the deck collapsed. Is Your Deck Safe?
Michael Morse, founder of DeckLok Bracket Systems, will discuss decks, what makes them fail, liability issues, engineering and how specially designed hardware helps to solve these issues. This engineering reality is critical when it comes to deck construction: when either the fault-lines, or more likely, a plethora of heavy partiers starts to get rowdy, deck connectors need to redirect the high stress forces to create sheer, distributed loads in order to maintain structural integrity throughout the deck. It's a serious subject because lives could be at stake.

Housing market sales will plummet in a disaster area but you will continue to enjoy a regular income performing these inspections while the area recovers. This can also be a great retirement or new inspector venture. Class size is limited to 25 trainees.
